Thatch Umbrellas

Our African thatch umbrellas are all commercial grade, heavy duty products, which are exactly the same high quality products you would see at top resorts, hotels and restaurants around the world. These quality thatch umbrellas create a unique and fun atmosphere.

Once erected the thatch umbrellas can be left up permanently and provide a robust shelter and cooler shade, typically up to 10 degrees cooler than a canvas umbrella. Highly durable, the umbrella frame and thatch tiles have been designed to withstand harsh conditions including: strong winds, driving rain and snow. Our commercial grade thatch umbrellas need never be taken down even in the most severe of winters. With no maintenance, no shedding and no mildew, thatch umbrellas are perfect for both indoor and outdoor use.

Our thatch umbrellas have been installed at pubs, hotels, cafes, restaurants, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, zoos, themed attractions, golf courses and homes around the UK.

South African Cape Reed Thatch Tiles:

The round umbrella frame is covered with genuine South African cape reed thatch tiles, which create a distinctive stepped appearance. South African cape reed is harvested from a replenishable, renewable resource and harvesting the thatch actually promotes growth.

Cape reed thatch tiles are durable, have a long life span, and offer natural aesthetic beauty. The totally unique natural thatch reed tiles are environmentally friendly and will offer years of beauty and service. The thatch itself has a 20 year life span.

Thatch Fire Retardant:

All our African thatch tiles are pre treated with a specialist thatch fire retardant chemical for your safety.

Thatch Umbrella Frames:

Our umbrella kits are supplied complete with a lightweight hot dipped steel galvanised canopy frame which supports the thatch tiles. The lightweight canopy frame is additionally coated in a sand colour to blend in with the thatch tiles. The frame is virtually invisible from underneath and the thatch tiles are visible from inside. Galvanised steel stays, clamps and all the necessary components are supplied to enable fixing to a centre pole.

Thatch Umbrella Poles:

The centre pole size is dependant on the umbrella size. All our African thatch umbrella models have the option of either steel or wooden poles. The steel poles are hot dipped galvanised to protect again rust and the timber poles are pressure treated with Tanalith `E` wood treatment preservative. To ensure maximum weather protection all our umbrella timber poles are additionally `double soaked treated` in Cuprinol `Golden Brown` wood treatment preservative.

Thatch Umbrellas and Table Kits:

Our range of combined exotic thatched umbrella and table kits provide a fabulous tropical dining experience. Various table options are available with each umbrella size. Please Note: The combined thatch umbrella and table kits are only available with the metal poles.

All table, seating and furniture products are pressure treated with tanalith `E` preservative.

We pre treat all our thatched structure timbers with Cuprinol `Golden Brown` wood treatment preservative. We can also treat any furniture with the same wood colour treatment if required. Please specify if you wish to have this optional colour treatment at the time of ordering.

Thatch Umbrella Installation:

All our African thatch umbrellas and table options are delivered in kit format. All products supplied in kit form are simple to install. Full installation instructions are supplied with each umbrella order.
