Construction Overview
Depending on the size of the thatched gazebo or structure chosen, our highly trained fitters will normally complete the on site installation within 1-3 days. Many of the components will have been previously manufactured in our workshops prior to delivery and installation. The pictures below show the installation and construction of a Zahara 4.2m x 6.0m African thatched gazebo on a very uneven unprepared site.

Step 1:
A previously prepared level base is not required for construction, however we are able to construct on most surfaces. It is not essentail that the proposed construction area is perfectly level as we are able to create a level framework for all our structures.
Step 2:
The roof section is assembled to ensure compatability with the proposed construction area. 2007 Modification: All metal roof sections now benefit from an additional protective coating in a sand colour. This sand colour is applied to blend the roof section in with the thatch tiles.
Step 3:
Base timbers are pre positioned using templates, mini poles and construction jigs.
Step 4:
Although the raised patio area was presumed to be level it is found to be uneven. The base timbers are levelled and adjusted accordingly
Step 5:
A sturdy firm level base is now established and the frame is secured to form a rigid platform.
Step 6:
The edging strips and outer hexagonal platform is secured into place.
Step 7:
The floorboards are added to complete the base. Please Note: An alternative grooved decking floor is available on all models at no extra cost.
Step 8:
The timber poles and balustrading are attached and secured into place. This ensures the overall rigidity of the structure.
Step 9:
Once all the balustrading is firmly in place the roof section is added. 2007 Modification: An additional hexagonal timber roofrail is now included with all thatched sructures.
Step 10:
The cape reed thatch tiles are attached to the roof section and secured into place.
Step 11:
The thatch roof is complete.
Step 12:
Optional table and chairs are added to furnish the thatched gazebo.
Step 13:
The thatched gazebo is now complete.
